Aventador J sold ! One of the most expensive toys at RM8.3 million

This car may not be legal on the Malaysian road, but at RM8.3 million ringgit it sure is one of the most expensive Sepang toys you can buy! It's unique design is based off the road-legal Lamborghini Aventador. This unique roofless variant uses the same V12 engine as the standard Aventador, producing 700 hp through a lightweight seven-speed automated transmission. It's weight has been reduced to just a meagre 1575kg.  0-100km/h in ? You would not believe it, slightly over 2 seconds! Well it is faster than an  Ariel Atom, better looking and more exclusive. It also costs much much more. Talk about value for money! Check out the Custom DIY Ariel Atom, made in China! How about a DIY Aventador? China has it all.

Now we are waiting for Replica car makers to make an affordable version for the rest of us!

BMW F10 M5 survives crash at 300km/h

We know that BMW's are very safe, especially when compared to our local Proton Cars, but just how safe are BMW's actually are? Well, apparently, a 60 year old BMW driver was travelling on the Autobahn highway at the BMW F10 M5's top speed; all 300km/h of it. Just like the Proton Preve accident, some external forces swerved in and caused this gorgeous BMW F10 M5 to lose control and crash. As you can see, at 300km/h the car is a total loss. Well Proton is much better...

Proton Saga BLM / FL Turbo kits!

With the recent launch of the Proton Preve, let us take a look at the potential for turbocharging Proton's more cost effective vehicles. The Saga BLM and FL/FLX, with a capacity of 1.3L to 1.6L, proves to be a reliable lightweight, daily drive machine. However, by retrofitting it with a turbo kit, boosting at a modest 1.1 bar, the Proton Saga's Campro engine awakens and becomes a total beast! This prime example shows a stock 1.3L Proton Saga BLM converted to 1.6L using a stroker kit. With metal head gasket, and a bolt on turbo kit, this Saga BLM turbo dyno-ed at GT Auto Sunway with 190whp and 290Nm of torque! Quite impressive compared to the Proton Preve don't you think?

Horse Power? Does it really define a horse's capabilities?

Horsepower from a Horse

I am sure most people have wondered, why is the output of engines and motor vehicles for that matter termed "horsepower". Does it really measure the power of an engine equivalent to how much power a given number of horses are able to produce?

Apparently it does! The invention of steam engines to replace horses could be the root reason for this term. In order to provide a yardstick for the amount of power steam engines could produce, the term horsepower was conceived.

"In 1702, Thomas Savery wrote in The Miner's Friend: So that an engine which will raise as much water as two horses, working together at one time in such a work, can do, and for which there must be constantly kept ten or twelve horses for doing the same. Then I say, such an engine may be made large enough to do the work required in employing eight, ten, fifteen, or twenty horses to be constantly maintained and kept for doing such a work…" (http://www.history.rochester.edu/steam/savery/)

In comparison, normal human can produce about 1.2 hp briefly, and sustain about 0.1 hp indefinitely; athletes can manage up to about 2.5 hp briefly and 0.3 hp for a period of several hours.

In 1993, R. D. Stevenson and R. J. Wassersug published an article calculating the upper limit to an animal's power output. The peak power over a few seconds has been measured to be as high as 14.9 hp. However, Stevenson and Wassersug observe that for sustained activity, a work rate of about 1 hp per horse is consistent with agricultural advice from both 19th and 20th century sources.

Spy Shot: Possible Peugeot 408 in Malaysia? 2012

Credits goes to "Boy96" from lowyat.net! I am just reposting to spread the news! :D Well guess the pressure from the launch of the Proton Preve and Volkswagen Polo Sedan calls for a new model launch from Peugeot 408 as well!

The dashboard looks quite good! This is the Peugeot 408 launched in China. Steering wheel looks simple and elegant, and the dashboard aircond vents reminds me of those from an Audi.

The Peugeot 408 was launched with two engines – a 110hp/147Nm 1.6 litre engine and a 147hp/200Nm 2.0 litre engine in China. Being a C segment Car, The Peugeot 408 is based off the Peugeot 308 chassis platform. The wheelbase is increased to accommodate more legroom. Due to the elongated chassis, the 408 is said to look more proportionate compared to other cars which has simply been converted to a sedan from a hatchback, e.g. Mazda 2.

Proton Preve Failure Again? Look inside!

Previously we covered the Proton Preve dashboard button quality failure, this time there appears to be some problem with the Proton Preve's tyres! Hit the jump for 1 more picture and a funny internet trending meme on this mishap!

Fiat Coupe 20VT with Custom SD Aerodynamic Bodykit!

The Fiat Coupé (type 175, officially titled the Coupé Fiat) was a coupé produced by the Italian manufacturer Fiat between 1993 and 2000. In Malaysia, the name Fiat has receieved quite a notorious reputation for being a high maintenance Italian make. In fact, most Non-Asian makes such as BMW, Mercedes, Volvo etc has also recieved the same reputation of being high maintenance. Despite this, the Fiat Coupe has a cult following in Malaysia! Understandly, the owners sure do have good taste, as this vehicle is indeed very handsome and sporty in apperance.

To truly appreciate the vehicle one would have to take a peek inside its interior; it is designed by Pininfarina, which is coincidentally the designer of many other makes including Ferrari, Maserati, Rolls-Royce, Cadillac, Jaguar, Volvo, Alfa Romeo, Honda and Lancia.

Performance wise, the Fiat Coupe features a 5-cylinder 2.0-litre 20V turbo that produces 220bhp, 160kW @ 5750 RPM, 310Nm (210lb-ft) torque at 2500 RPM. Weighing at 1250-1320KG, it accelerates 0-100km/h in 6.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250km/h.

This special Fiat Coupe in Malaysia is very much loved by its owner, with an extensive list of modifications done to it. The main feature of this Fiat could be its unique matte blue paint job and very tasteful custom bodykit.

Specification:
- Full custom bodykits by SD Aerodynamic
- Lambo matte pearl iridescent blue paintjob
- Black gloss roof
- Grey side mirrors
- 17 inch rims with Yokohama S-Drive 225-45-17
- Original Brembo caliper, with upgraded Brembo Sports discs
- Upgraded to Koni shocks with std spring
- Original and working tilt & slide sunroof
- Cat still on, exhaust tip reroute to centre rear diffuser. Stock box
- Custom LED DRL
- Upgraded to 4k HID

New Volkswagen Polo Sedan to reach Malaysia!

With the recent launch of the Proton Preve, VW Malaysia has announced their new Polo Sedan on April 19! It is said to be affordable, which should be well below RM100k and in direct competition with the Proton Preve. The most likely configuration now should be similar to Proton Preve, with a 6 speed automatic and 1.6L N/A engine. Perhaps a TSI to go against the CFE engine as well? The front looks like the Proton Saga (which isn't a bad thing!), with a more proportionate body.  Hopefully this car could be affordable enough and yet retain its German engineering and tech!

Proton Preve: Possible Quality Issues? Switch fitment

Despite being touted as the global car, with international quality standards, this viral image of the recent Proton Preve test drive shows otherwise. The passenger key lock and other indicator located on the bevel of the centre console was seen dislocated and dangling inside the dashboard. This reminds me of the old Proton Wira aircond button, where it is quite common for the button itself to be pushed too far inside and left dangling in the dashboard.

FUUU! Quality issues again!?

Well this could be a rushed unit for the recent test drive and launch of the Proton Preve, hence the "rushed" quality. However, with the booking numbers rising, will Proton overlook certain quality control procedures and let history repeat itself? We will need the first batch of buyers to give comment on that!

Apart from that, the centre console does look quite well designed. Great job on that! For more information on the Proton Preve, head over to the official specification and price list!

Weird Toyota: Toyota WiLL Vi

While cruising along the highway near the old Subang Airport, I saw an odd looking vehicle. Previously I spotted a Nissan S Cargo, which seems to be rarer than the Lotus Esprit in Malaysia (can be found in abundance in Sunway area). This odd looking vehicle appears to be a Toyota WiLL Vi, which is a compact car, produced from 2000 to 2001, with distinctive styling combining elements of many cars. The WiLL Vi was designed by the then newly-formed Virtual Venture Company, headed by Jim Shimizu. Catering to a niche market, the Will Vi was not officially sold in Malaysia.

Powered by a Toyota 2NZ-FE DOHC straight 4 engine with a capacity of 1300cc, this engine produces 88bhp with 123Nm of torque at 4400rpm. Weighing at only 940kg, this little shoe does 0-100 in around 2 years (actually I couldn't find the correct data, perhaps 14 seconds? Would be glad if someone can update on the 0-100).

The dashboard kind of resembles a facelift Perodua Kancil dash!

The front looks like the back! Only the rear windscreen position gives it away.

Mercedes-Benz Clampdown on Replica 300SL!

This is one car that gets more expensive as it gets older. Besides its exclusiveness, it is also an icon of Mercedes-Benz. Some people have attempted to replicate its exclusiveness in the form of replica kit cars!

Mercedes-Benz does not like this however. They want to keep it exclusive, and any replica that fools people into thinking it is a genuine one makes the originals less "exclusive". The famous gullwing coupe was replicated with a fiberglass chassis, and while on transit to its new owner, was found and subsequently destroyed for violating the copyright law of applied art.

"The certified equipment used in the centre includes two presses, each applying over 30 tons of pressure. The replica sports car had a fiberglass body weighing precisely 148 kilograms, which the compressor smashed into small pieces. This dramatic end to the unlawful body was officially documented with a signed and stamped 'confirmation of scrappage'"

Epic Singaporean uncle threatens to sue over parking spot!

SJW37E Singapore Rich Man swear, curse and treaten to sue over a parking lot. Epic Singaporean uncle threatens to sue over parking spot! Some Singaporean uncle who supposedly was waiting for the same parking as another guy was very angry when he did not get the parking spot. The angry uncle is driving a Jaguar XJ. On a happier note, here is Batman driving a Lamborghini , who entertains sick children at his local hospital! Talk about both ends of the extreme spectrum.

Some quotes from the uncle:

"I am going to sue you, for f**king me!"

"I saw you shopping at centre point!" (Not sure how is this relevant)

"I have witness that you f**k me okay!"

"I sue you until your backside broken!"

Watch out, we got a badass over here!

Description as from the youtube video:

"30th Jan 2011, Sunday, 3.30pm, Atrium@orchard road parking lot.I was queuing on road side with signal and waiting for car park as it was full and to avoid blocking of road. This guy drive and want to cut my lane. I move in the lane and he almost hit my door by 1CM. and then start swearing cursing and say he got alot of money, tons of money. Say its his que. Keep saying non stop that he has alot of money. Then I got into the car park. He stop infront of my car and continue swear and curse and wanted to sue me...etc... and his saliva is spreading like all over my face.... Yuck...I keep telling him that I never swear or even finger pointing as he has claimed blah blah blah.... Look at him barking like a "Short Short" man (His wife confirm by saying at the end of the video that he is "short short" one...)." -
